Adolphe Demange

(1857 - 1927)

Adolphe Demange was born in Mignéville, north-east France in 1857. He studied under Charles Louis Gratia (1815-1911), from the same region, a painter and pastellist.

Demange exhibited at the Société des Artistes Français from 1896-1926. He was primarily a portrait painter and received a number of state commissions.

He lived in Nancy in the last decade of his life.

The Musée de la Comédie Française holds a portrait of Madame Allan.
