Artist Biography: Edith Hume was a genre painter, who lived in Park Place, London, but mainly depicted fishing or coastal scenes. She exhibited under her maiden name, Miss Edith Dunn from 1862-67 at the British Institution and the Society of British Artists in Suffolk Street, and as Mrs. T. O. Hume from 1870-92 at the New Watercolour Society and at many other important venues. She exhibited many paintings at the Royal Academy from 1874-92; some of the titles at the Royal Academy include “Fishing on the Old Pier Head”, “Ripening Corn”, “Distant Thoughts” and “Mending the Nets”.
